HOW DO I SWITCH MY KEYBOARD

BETWEEN UK & US LAYOUTS

On a UK keyboard KEY METHOD On a US keyboard

1 - the # symbol has its own key

2 - shift+3 yields the £ symbol

3 - shift+2 yields the " symbol

4 - shift+' yields the @ symbol

5 - shift+# yields the ~ symbol

6 - shift+` yields the ¬ symbol

This text provides an easy way
to switch between UK and US keyboard layouts

It is easy to accidentally switch by mis-typing

To switch a UK keyboard to US layout:

Press + hold alt, then press left shift.

To switch back, do the same again

  Thus along the keyboard `, 2, 3, ', # keys

  UK layout shift gives ¬, ", £, @, ~ symbols

US layout shift gives ~, @, #, ", symbols (there is no separate # key)

In US mode the extra UK #~ key yields the \| symbols duplicating the \ key
